I wish that political differences between our countries end soon: Pakistani actor Adnan Siddiqui

Adnan Siddiqui

Known for his roles in shows like Mere Humdum Mere Dost, Aahista Aahista and many more, Adnan Siddiqui is one of most loved and known Pakistani actors of current time.

All geared up to debut in Bollywood with Sridevi’s upcoming film Mom, Adnan is extremely happy that his shows are being equally appreciated by the audience of both the nations. He believes that Zindagi channel has taken up a beautiful initiative to broadcast television series from both the countries across the border.

Humble and poised Adnan feels that fine arts and culture can never be bounded by barriers. Recently, we spoke to Adnan, who shared, “I don’t think that any form of art has any border. Isn’t the noted painter M.F.Hussain or author like Saadat Hasan Manto famous across the border? Do you really think that Shah Rukh Khan or Amitabh Bachchan doesn’t have any fans in Pakistan? Well they are equally loved and praised in my country as well and I am sure that even they want to visit their neighbouring country, but it’s just that in such cases their visit might just be blown out of proportion. But, no one pays attention to the fact that they can be the ambassador of their own nation. I only wish that this political difference between our countries ends soon.”

Fan of Indian reality shows, when we quizzed him about the contents of Indian shows, Adnan said, “To be very honest I don’t understand the concept of saas-bahu sharing a bitter relationship, where both of them are trying to kill each other. On the other hand, Pakistani shows also focus on breakdown of conjugal relationships, but that’s not all. Hence, I believe that show makers from both the countries should pay attention to this.”

For the uninitiated, popular show Yeh Hai Mohabbatien has been banned in Pakistan for showing too many intimate scenes. This might have enraged the fans of the daily, but Adnan has a very sorted and thoughtful answer for this. “See it is easy to keep a check on the screening of films, but television is accessible to all, even to children. At times children might turn on the television and witness some inappropriate contents. Hence, there should be some vigilance over the broadcasting.”

When we asked him about whether Pakistani shows are becoming bold or not, with a smile Adnan replied, “See, in India, audience easily accept bold contents, while in Pakistan we don’t have the liberty to do so. I feel as artists we should follow the law of their country and abide by it.”

We understand that Adnan and wish you a very successful career in Bollywood as well.
