Recently we had reported about the fighter Abhimanyu’s character coming to an end in Star Plus’ popular show Mahabharat (Swastik Productions). We thus spoke to the talented and good looking Paras Arora who plays the character of the efficient son to know about his journey in the show. “When I got the offer to play Abhimnayu, I was overly excited for it’s not every day that you get to be a part of such epic stories. Mahabharat is not made regularly and to essay a strong character like Abhimanyu was a once in a life time offer for me. The way the makers have projected this show is sheer brilliance. Every character has been etched so wonderfully and has a beautiful story to tell,” averred Paras. So what characteristics of the prince did impress him the most? “There are so many of them. He single-handedly fought so many in the war and yet it never deterred his belief in himself. Also that he was not involved in any politics and participated in the war only for his love for his parents is worth applauding. Abhimanyu had not met his father for years but the love and respect he had for him and also for Draupadi is admirable.” The actor who rose to fame with his portrayal of Veer Shivaji and then topped it up with a film Rajjo opposite Kangana Ranaut talked about the character that remains closest to his heart. “Every character has been very different and special in its own ways. But of course Veer Shivaji’s character gave me all the recognition and what I am is only for it, hence it is very close to my heart.” So having played two warrior princes and a film, what plans does he have next? Any plans to shift to films completely, we wondered. “Not at all, I am open to all mediums. And I feel I am very young to harbour dreams of moving to films completely. The film that I did needed a young actor. To do lead roles in other films, I still have some time,” Paras smiled to say. Moving to Abhimanyu’s death, the prince had knowledge of entering the Chakravyuh but did not know the way out from there. So we asked the actor whether he feels that half knowledge can be troublesome. “Sometimes it can, but then if you are confident you can overcome all challenges in life. As for Abhimanyu he was there to save his uncles and that was his prime objective; so there was no turning back,” the actor replied humbly. And finally talking about his team, Paras quipped, “We have the best of time shooting with the cast. I have really bonded well with Shaheer (Sheikh), Vin (Rana), Lavanya (Bhardwaj), Saurav (Gurjar) and Rohit (Bhardwaj). They are all older to me and thus I have great time learning and having fun with them. Shooting the war sequences was such a tough time. The scorching heat had us all so drained, but we knew the importance of the sequence and worked extra hard to not let the show suffer.” Way to go, Paras!
