He is a face on television that everybody loves ever since he debuted as Swayam on Channel V’s Dil Dosti Dance.

He moved on to do episodic shows like Yeh Hai Aashiqui, Twistwala Love, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya and now the versatile actor-dancer has taken part in Khatron Ke Khiladi 8.

TellyChakkar.com spoke to Shantanu at the launch, about what he thinks of this new challenging stint.

“I took part in this show to work on my phobias, that’s the only reason. Naturally, in daily life you really don’t get this opportunity to challenge yourself. And Khatron is the best show to challenge yourself or overcome your phobias,” explains Shantanu.

So what are the actors’ phobias? “Height and water are major phobias that I have and I’m trying to learn swimming so I’m trying to overcome it but it’s not easy. Reptiles and insects, I don’t play with them every day par woh jab aayenge tab woh samaj me ayega fear hai ya nai hai (When we face the insects for real, only then we’ll come to know if we’re scared or not).”

Upon his preparations and what he thinks about the girl power in the show, he said, “I keep dancing to keep myself fit. I don’t generally stay very calm when I’m given some task. I get a little hyper so I’m supposed to keep my calm. So that’s something I’ll try to work out. It was surprising when we got to know that there are seven girls and five guys. It’s interesting in a way; it will be fun that there are more girls.”

How is his family reacting? “They are like, ‘God knows what our son is going to do’. They know me that I’ve never tried this kind of stuff. I’ve always spoken about it but they don’t know how I will perform.”
