MUMBAI: Along with being an eminent filmmaker, Anurag Basu makes for a great judge on Sony Entertainment Television’s Super Dancer. The dance reality show is coming back with chapter 3 with a talented bunch of kids to impress viewers with their dance moves. This time as well, Anurag is being accompanied by divas Geeta Kapur and Shilpa Shetty.

At the launch of the show, Anurag looked charged up and happy to judge the third season. On continuing to judge the show for third season, Anurag shared, ‘This time, I asked my wife do you think I should judge the third season as well, to which she replied, “If you enjoy, then you should be part of it.” It is fun to be around on the sets of Super Dancer. Shilpa, Geeta, and I look forward to coming to the sets.’

Given a chance, if the makers plan to introduce a fourth judge in the show, who would you recommend? ‘Karan Johar. I love him as a judge. He is amazing and witty.’

When asked if he thinks if there is any reality these days in reality shows, he replied, ‘Viewers are too smart these days to get fooled. And especially in kids reality shows, one cannot force kids to say things in a certain manner. Kids cannot lie or fake things.’

Reality shows have a blend of entertainment and emotions. It is touching to see someone’s hardships and bad phase, so how do you deal with such emotions. Does it affect you even at home? ‘Yes, I can still recall many moments from the past two seasons. Such kind of stories stay back in your mind and help while writing when we are not shooting for the show.’

On the personal front, Anurag is a father of two kids. Hence, we asked him how difficult is parenthood these days? He shared, ‘It a big challenge in today’s times to expose kids to all the things. Their career and personality are made until they are in class 10. I will give my kids lot of time, freedom, and make them travel the world.’

2018 is coming to an end; how was your year? ‘It’s been a fruitful year for me. I wrote and read lot of things and travelled a lot. Years when you are not shooting are the best for you!’
