We have many loveable couples in the television industry who have a successful married life and today Manish and Poonam Goel have completed 11 years of marital bliss. Yes, today is the day (21 October) when the lovebirds took the holy nuptial vows exactly 11 years ago. It so happened that while working together in Ekta Kapoor’s Kausauti Zindagi Kay, cupid struck them. First of all we at Tellychakkar.com would like to wish them a happy marriage anniversary. So let’s talk to Manish and take him back 11 years when it all started. It’s over to you Manish. “Well, as you all know that Poonam and I did our first show Kausauti Zindagi Kay together. I always wished to work with her and when I met her for the first time on the sets, the first thing that I told her was ‘I am your biggest fan’. Later I started liking her. Incidentally, then my mom was searching for a suitable girl for me. My mother personally liked Poonam a lot and you won’t believe she actually went across to Poonam taking our marriage proposal.” “A month later, when I didn't see her react, even I went and proposed to Poonam but she took another six months to give her nod. Then on 6 May, 2002 we got engaged and after six months of courtship, we got married on 21 October the same year,” he added. How has life changed in these 11 years? “Not a lot, because we both have given space to each other and have never bombarded each other with questions. And the best part of our relationship is that both of us have given enough time to each other. Since both of us don’t like partying, so for me my social life has always been with my wife and kids. But like every couple, even if we fight, we make it sure to not blow things out of proportion. I have heard my mom saying that one should never keep divorce as an option. So I guess that is why we are still together with a strong bond.” Anything shocking that you have learnt about Poonam in these many years? “Yes, I never thought that Poonam would adjust in my family so soon. It was shocking when I saw her touching the feet of my family members. And believe me from then onwards my love for her has grown leaps and bound. She is an ideal wife and mother and my biggest support and strength. We have two angels Aryaveer and Maliha and I am very fortunate to have Poonam in my life.” So how are you celebrating this special day? “I think after a long time Poonam and I went alone for a date last night after dropping our kids at my in-laws’ place. In fact, first we went to watch a movie and followed it up with dinner and coffee. The entire night we kept roaming and even had our breakfast out. So, we were together for 12 hours from evening 7.30 to morning 7.30. Today, I will take my kids and Poonam for shopping and later for a family dinner.” What did you gift Poonam? “She for one doesn’t ask for gifts but this is for the first time that she asked me to gift her a diamond ring.” Well, Manish, here’s wishing you both all the happiness in the world!!!
