Meet Moon Banerjee... TV's 'newest' mom

Moon Banerjee

Talented actor Moon Banerjee is back to what she loves doing!! The lady who had taken a maternity break post her stint in Sasural Genda Phool, returns to the small screen, with probably the biggest drama soap ever-made, Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani on Zee TV.

As Tellychakkar.com has already reported, Moon will be playing mother to the protagonist Drashti Dhami in the show.

And with this, Moon will for the very first time in her acting career take up the role of a mom to a grown-up.

Talking about her return, Moon said, “I am glad that I will return to TV with a show as large as Ek Tha Raja Ek Thi Rani. The show is supposed to be a biggie in terms of its concept, setting, characterization and story line. You won’t believe if I say that the sets of the show got erected by a team of more than 500 workers. I have never heard of such a huge set being erected for any Indian show. I am privileged to be part of it.”

Speaking about motherhood, the charming lady spoke, “My break was indeed justified. As you know, I took off for my maternity break after Sasural Genda Phool. My son has been my world, and I felt I can sacrifice anything and everything to raise him. As a mother, I have seen it all, been with him for three years now. He is now going to be three and half years old, and that’s the reason why I thought about getting back. He’s never stayed away from me for all this while. But the recent schedule at Bikaner and the promotions that I keep doing for the show, out of the city are the first few experiences when he has been away from me. I am happy that he has been able to manage in my absence.”

On her support system, Moon explained, “Well, my husband is very co-operative. Since he is mostly working online, he stays at home and works. He has now become a hands-on husband, who can do everything for our kid. I also have a girl managing my kid when I am not there. My mother stays close by, and drops in whenever there is a need.”

On playing mother for the first time, Moon stated, “Yes, this is something that I have never done. I took it up as the role provided is very meaty. And the stature of the show is huge. Let’s see how it goes.”

Moon and Drashti have gelled well on the sets. Talking about it, Moon with a smile on her face averred, “Drashti is a huge star, considering the success and popularity she has bagged. But the girl comes across as a simple, bubbly and friendly person and that’s the best part. We share a very good rapport off-screen, and have gelled from day one. We have our hearty laughing sessions too on the sets, which make everyone go crazy.”

Here’s wishing all the success to the newest ‘mom’ on TV…
