MUMBAI: Young and talented actor Rohit Chandel has been entertaining the masses in shows like Yeh Un Dinon Ki Baat Hai, Vikram Betaal Ki Rahasya Gaatha, and Chandragupta Maurya. Rohit was destined to play Bajirao. In 2015, when he came to Mumbai, he sent out audition tapes of him performing the character of Bajirao Ballal to various production houses. Little did he know then, that seven years later, he will bag the very part. Rohit has been finalised to play the grown-up Bajirao in Kashibai Bajirao Ballal. The character is currently played by Venkatesh Pande. He shares, “Life has come full circle for me. My first audition was as Bajirao and today, I am going to portray the character in the show. Interestingly, I was given the same lines along with a few more during the audition for the show.”

He is returning to TV after almost two years. He shares, “I stopped taking up TV shows because nothing exciting was being offered to me. I was creatively dissatisfied. However, I am excited about playing Bajirao. It’s a strong character with no limitations. It will offer me great scope to perform.”

For now, Rohit is working on transforming himself for his latest venture. "I had lost 10 kgs for an OTT project and now, I have to gain weight for my TV show. I am working hard on myself. I want the audience to accept me as Bajirao," he says.

Kashibai Bajirao Ballal is produced by Smruti Shinde under her banner Sobo Films. Actors Aarohi Patel and Venkatesh Pande played the roles of the young Kashi Bai and Bajirao.

Sobo Films is presently producing Ek Mahanayak: Dr B R Ambedkar.
