Oh No! Barun Sobti's comeback show scrapped?

Barun Sobti

All you Barun Sobti fans, we might have some bad news. The handsome hunk of the small screen, missing from TV for the past four years, was supposed to make his comeback this year.

But looks like the show has been scrapped, a popular daily has reported. Satya Ki Kiran was supposed to be a finite series of 26 episodes, starring Barun as a cop and Shivani Tomar as a con-woman and his eventual love interest.

The shooting was already in full swing in Delhi and Noida when news of the show’s cancellation began doing the rounds, the site adds.

A source close to the site adds, "Initially, the show was supposed to be a finite series comprising 26 episodes airing on weekends. Later, the channel decided to convert it into a daily soap of 120 episodes, airing on weekdays at 10.30pm, and it was rechristened Mohra. But it seems that the production house wasn't convinced since they had got a fixed budget for 26 episodes. The channel and the production house weren't on the same page regarding the show and there were some scenes that were even reshot at the behest of the channel. However, the channel wasn't convinced, which is why the show, which was supposed to go on air in May-end, was pushed to July. A meeting was held between the producers and the channel last week, where it was decided that the show will be scrapped."

Barun had taken a break of sorts post the phenomenal success of Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon and was rumoured to be concentrating on his Bollywood career.

It’s alleged that he took up this show due to its finite concept.

An actor, on conditions of anonymity, has added to the site, "It's been almost a month since we haven't been shooting in Delhi. Everyone has come back to Mumbai and we are clueless as to what's happening. We have just been asked to wait for now as the future of the show looks uncertain."

While Barun didn’t offer his comments on the issue, the production company is said to have denied the development.
