Through his four-decade long career, with over 200 films, actor Ranjeet, perhaps holds the most dubious record. How many actors in the world can claim to have played a rapist in most of their films? His on-screen antics earned him the title of Rapist Ranjeet. In fact, the audience felt that he must be the same in real life too. Ranjeet though now seeks a change in image. The veteran actor will soon be seen in a humorous avatar on television. Ranjeet will essay the role of Jhujhar Singh Bhalla in SAB TV’s upcoming show Jugni Chali Jalandhar. But when it’s Ranjeet, the word rape is bound to come up. So, at the press meet of Jugni.., Ranjeet was posed the proverbial question – Won’t he be raping anyone in the new show? The actor’s reply had everyone in splits. “I knew I’d be asked this. At this age, I’m trying to create a new image for myself. For far too long, I’ve only committed rapes, but now I want to act. This show gives me that opportunity. Besides, I too am tired of my victims hurling abuses at me,” replied the actor. Adding further he says, “In the past, I used to pull a woman’s saree or dupatta but today our heroines wear skimpy clothes thus there is nothing left for me to pull. However one thing that isn’t likely to change is the abuses. Pehle rape karne par ladkiyan kutta, kamina kehti thi aur ab yeh sab muhje ghar main sunna padta hai! Jugni Chali Jalandhar goes on air from September 20 at 9.30 pm.
