Smriti Kalra and Simone Singh

Talented actress Smriti Kalra will soon be back on the small screen!!

She will play the lead girl opposite the finest actor Samir Soni in an upcoming show on Star Plus!!

It’s known to all that Sidharth Sengupta and Jyoti Sagar’s Edgestorm Productions along with the ‘show runner’ Vikram Bhatt will bring in an adaptation of a Turkish show ‘Ask-i-Memnu’ for Star Plus.

The concept on ‘forbidden love’ will be about a May-December romance, is what has been reported in media.

We now hear that Smriti Kalra who has been on a hiatus from fiction TV for nearly two years now after her stint in Itti Si Khushi, will make her return with this project.

Also joining the cast will be seasoned actress Simone Singh. Simone was last seen on TV in Ek Hasina Thi.

As per sources, “Smriti will play the girl opposite Samir. Simone will play a powerful motherly role. The team has started shooting for the pilot.”

For the uninitiated, this show will be produced by Edgestorm Productions, with Vikram Bhatt helming it as the director.

We tried our best to reach out to Smriti, but were not successful. Smriti is quite popular for her lead roles in 12/24 Karol Bagh, Suvreen Guggal – Topper of the Year and Itti Si Khushi. She also enjoyed a small stint as the host of Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya.

When contacted, Simone who is presently in London accepted our call and said, “Well, I am neither confirming nor denying this news at the moment.”

We tried reaching out to producer Sidharth Sengupta, but could not do so.

We also buzzed the channel spokesperson for a confirmation, but did not receive revert till we filed the story.

As for Edgestorm Productions, it had the dance based show D4 – Get Up and Dance on Channel V as its first show.
