Ssumier to play Manabi Bandyopadhyay in Code Red Talaash

After Quitting Sasural Simar Ka, the very talented and versatile actor Ssumier S Pasricha is back on Colors TV.

Produced by Lost Boy Productions, the Code Red episode will have Ssumier play the legendry Manabi Bandhopadhya. India’s first ever transgender to become a principal of a college in Kolkata.

Born in Kolkata, as a man, suffering from within and not happy with his gender, Somanath gets his sex changed becomes Manabi. Later disowned by her family, she walked alone to fight for her rights and identity. The character has been named Supriya in the episode.

Talking about the same, Ssumier said, “It was a great experience playing the character. I must add that it was inspiring to perform this iconic character. I learnt a lot from the role.”

Sharing more about Manabi, the actor shared, “Her journey was not easy as she was made fun and not accepted by the society. Her belief in herself and immense education is what helped her to become Dr Manabi Bandyopadhyay. In April 2015, Supreme Court's landmark ruling to recognize transgender people as a third gender identity, gave her the right to breathe freely and with dignity.”
