Super Dancer 4's Rithvik Dhanjani talks about his relationships and more; read inside

MUMBAI: After becoming a household name with Pavitra Rishta, it was expected that Rithvik Dhanjani would also walk the daily-soap path like most of his contemporaries. However, it has been seven years since then and he is yet to be a part of another fiction show. Instead, he turned his attention towards anchoring reality shows. The actor, who is currently hosting Super Dancer 4, replies, “A daily soap is a huge commitment and I don’t want to take one up just for the heck of it. Over the years, I have received very few exciting offers, but even those didn’t materialise. My two-and-a-half-year stint on Pavitra Rishta made me realise that if I ever take up another daily soap, I’ll have to love it as much if not more. For now, I am enjoying my role as an anchor.”

He adds, “It’s easy to choose something in your comfort zone, but I became an actor to live different lives in one lifetime. I always look for a script that puts me in a spot as an actor. The magic, thrill, and challenge of that is incomparable.”

Many people are of the opinion that the anchors of Hindi reality shows indulge in buffoonery on screen, with some even flirting with the judges to garner more ratings. Point this out to Rithvik and he says, “I don’t flirt with the judges. Yes, I indulge in buffoonery as well — be it jumping around, dancing, or laughing at myself. I do it to add to the entertainment quotient of the show and also because it’s my job. Everyone is putting in a lot of hard work, so let’s not be judgmental.”

On the personal front, Rithvik is single. Talking about love, he says, “When in a relationship, it’s important to grow together and help each other bloom. That can only happen if you are content with who you are. Also, in a relationship, your happiness and sense of security should not depend on the other person. The reins of your happiness should be in your hands,” he says with a smile.

Given a choice, he would rather mend relationships than end them. He shares, “I believe that adjustments are a part of life. Nowadays, it has become easy for people to walk away, as they have many options. Earlier, we were taught that if a glass is broken, it has to be fixed, not thrown away. I belong to that old school of thought.”

Talking about the future, he says that he is not planning to settle down anytime soon. “I do believe in the institution of marriage, but it will have to wait. I haven’t met anyone who I want to spend the rest of my life with,” he signs off.
