SAB TV is a channel which has opened new doors for the comic genre in the world of Hindi television. It has produced one rib-tickling show after another. “The minimum episodes that the channel shoots for is 120 and we are very happy with the way the shows are progressing. Taarak Mehta has completed 900 episodes, Lapataganj 700, Chidiya Ghar and Gutur Gu are also doing well. But the question is what went wrong with I Luv My India. I think the concept did not appeal the masses. I think the mix of patriotism and humour plot did not connect,” shared Anooj Kapoor, Business Head, SAB TV. So is IPL a reason for the show’s failure? “No, I don’t think so. The ratings started dipping before the cricket league started. Moreover, Movers and Shakers also got low numbers initially, but after its timeslot change, viewers like it. Basically, I am very happy with the progress of SAB TV. We are the number 5 channel. We work on lesser budgets and have a narrow reach, still we manage to churn out good content. We keep on experimenting and our newest offering, Bhai Bhaiya Aur Brother, will also do well with the masses.” Keep up the good work, Anooj!!!
