MUMBAI: 2022 was a great year for experiments in the fiction genres. Some of them worked while some did not.

Some shows had a great start, leaving other serials behind, but later did not perform as per the viewers’ expectations.

On the other hand, some long running shows still continue to work their charm on the audience.

As the year 2022 is coming to an end, TellyChakkar lists down some of the best shows of the year that did great on in BARC ratings in the fiction genre.

Anupamaa (Director’s Kut Productions) on Star Plus is presently ruling our television screens. The show is doing exceptionally well and is topping the weekly BARC ratings. Rupali Ganguly plays the lead role while Gaurav Khanna plays the role of her husband, Anuj. The story took a big turn with Anupama and Anuj’s wedding and the show has reached a new intriguing high as Vanraj (played by Sudhanshu Pandey) and the Shah Family now come together to celebrate occasions.

Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai (Director’s Kut Productions) on Star Plus has become one of the longest running shows on Indian Television. The show stars Pranali Rathod and Harshad Chopda in the lead with Karishma Sawant as the grey shade character and is produced by Rajan Shahi. Viewers cannot manage to move away from their screens since the time the show went through a leap, after which the viewers are deeply invested in Abhimanyu and Aarohis love story.

Ghum Hai Kisikey Pyaar Meiin (Cockrow Entertainment and Shaika film) on Star Plus has been doing amazingly well in BARC ratings. The story between Sai and Virat has kept the fans of the show intrigued from the beginning and are loving Pakhi’s character change. The lead roles are played by Neil Bhatt, Ayesha Singh and Aishwarya Sharma and they do complete justice to their characters. The fan base of the show is filled with fans either supporting Virakhi or Sairat. The show recently took a time leap and people love the heaviness in the emotions that the show carries.

Imlie (4 Lions Films) on Star Plus took a huge leap as the old generation of the show bid adieu and the new generation of the show, starring Megha Chakraborty, Karan Vohra and Seerat Kapoor, took over, giving the show a fresh breath. Imlie is one of the top shows and is always doing well with the ratings. The audience of the show are quite impressed by the performances as it’s not an easy job to leave such an impression after how the old generation performed.

Yeh Hai Chahatein (Balaji Telefilms) on Star Plus is winning hearts with its gripping storyline and fantastic star cast. The show stars Sargun Kaur Luthra and Abrar Qazi in the main lead role. The Balaji Telefilms serial is based upon Preesha's life, which revolves around her kids Saransh and Ruhi, and her loving husband, Rudraksh. The viewers are deeply in love with the chemistry that the couple shares on-screen. The show is always on a new high and manages to gain attention with it’s amazing twists and turns.
