For a North Indian actress to pick up the nuances of Tamil is quite difficult. But this beautiful actress proved that wrong when she took up the challenging role of a Tamilain dentist in Yeh Hai Mohabbatein. She is amazing in the scenes she shares with her adapted daughter, Ruhi. Perhaps that's what has made her and the show such a hit!

Drashti Dhami (Madhubala; Colors)

With a gorgeous face and dedicated acting chops, the modern-day Madhubala proved to be a success on the small screen. Her chemistry with her co-star and her portrayal of a woman caught between two lives won her accolades and fans galore.  

Sanaya Irani (Rangrasiya; Colors)

Playing a village belle, this talented actress proved to her audiences that she can carry off both urban and village roles with equal élan. Her power-packed performance as a woman caught between her husband's betrayal and her own affections for a guy who murdered him won her many fans, and rightly so.

Preetika Rao (Beintehaa; Colors)

Acting is definitely in her genes, what with her sister Amrita Rao being a successful part of Bollywood! Preetika is beautiful, talented and lives up to the hype of the Colors show. We especially love her expressive face and charming smile. Way to go, girl! 

Pooja Sharma (Mahabharat; Star Plus)

When actresses take up a mythological character, they tend to caricature it or overdo it. But Pooja does complete justice to her Draupadi in this epic war drama. Even though the show focuses on the battle and the male characters, the former beauty queen holds her own a delivers a smashing performance.

Surbhi Jyoti (Qubool Hai; Zee TV)

Playing a double role on TV is not an easy task, but Surbhi seems to be an exception. The show is a landmark on the small screen for dispelling the stereotypes connected to Islam and the Muslim community. Surbhi not only plays twin sisters on the show, but also played their mother before the 20-year leap.

Sanjeeda Sheikh (Ek Hasina Thi; Star Plus)

The beautiful star has always been known for her kickass roles. In this revenge-seeking drama, Sheikh plays the female lead who is hell bent on bringing justice. We love her screen presence and chemistry with co-actor Vatsal Seth.

Disha Parmar (Pyaara Ka Dard Kuch Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara; Star Plus) 

The youngster left her studies mid-way to be part of the small screen and the gamble has surely paid off! As the female lead in Star Plus' hit show, she has become a star overnight. The show has many twists and turns that do justice to Parmar's acting abilities. 

Paridhi Sharma (Jodha Akbar; Zee TV)

When she came on board to play the beautiful and elegant Jodha, small screen went mad. Because it was a powerful role already epitomised by Aishwarya Rai Bachchan on the big screen. Sharma didn't disappoint and portrayed her royal role with conviction. Even after the time-leap, she hasn't lost her sheen. 

Deepika Singh (Diya Aur Baati Hum; Star Plus) 

The hit show saw Singh as a fun-loving girl, who transforms into a dedicated and focused IAS-aspirant. She shone brightly in the both the roles. Her acting skills, especially in the scenes where she is forcefully married off are a testimony to a bright future ahead.

Jennifer Winget (Saraswatichandra; Star Plus)

From a high-profile doctor to a royal woman, Winget has played many a unique roles. But this Star Plus serial saw Winget at her best. She may be in the news now for her split from her husband Karan Grover, but we would like to remember her only for her striking performances.

Disha Vakani (Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah; SAB TV)

From her high-pitched voice and dialogue delivery to her impromptu garba dances, Vakani is definitely the highlight of the long-running show. We would love to see her age gracefully on the show and carry the story forward.

Sriti Jha (Kumkum Bhagya; Zee TV) 

The female lead of Zee's popular show has become an overnight sensation, thanks to her pretty face and talent. She holds her own in this melodramatic show.

Hina Khan (Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai; Star Plus)

Amid all the love stories, this show on arranged marriage comes as a huge relief. It focuses on an Udaipur family and their everyday issues. Khan plays the lead, who goes through various emotions with a nuanced ease.

Digangana Suryavanshi (Ek Veer Ki Ardaas...Veera; Star Plus)

One of the youngest actresses on the list, this 15-year-old has proved to be a threat for other actresses. As Veera in this popular show, she delivers a memorable performance. We hope she continues to perform this way!
