He hails from Mumbai and has spent his childhood with Shahid Kapoor whom he has directed and choreographed in a number of movies. He is based in Andheri one of the popular suburbs of Mumbai and is married with wife Shaira having two sons called Subhaan and Azaan. He did his schooling from The Bishops School, Pune, he had a narrow escape to death not just once but twice, the first time when he was scheduled to shoot at Twin Towers just two days before the famous Twin Tower blast on 11th September 2001, while second time when he was supposed to in a hotel, which destroyed in the year 2004 Tsunami but cancelled his reservations at the last moment.
