MUMBAI: Abhilash Thapliyal is impressing one and all with his performance in this week’s releases Blurr and Faadu. Blurr is a movie that has started streaming on Zee5, and it stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role. The film is directed by Ajay Bahl, and it is a remake of the Spanish film Julia's Eyes.

TellyChakkar recently interacted with Abhilash, and spoke to him about the response he is getting for his performance in Blurr, his experience of working with Taapsee Pannu, and more…

What responses are you getting for your performance in the film?

It’s very humbling. When we used to watch interviews of actors on TV and they used to say ‘I am humbled, I used to wonder what’s humbled, but now I can understand what it is. It’s beautiful the way people are reacting to the story and the character. I am getting a lot of congratulatory messages. When I performed the character, I didn’t know it would become so big, and it would get such a huge response. So, I was a bit shocked but also happy.

For a brief period in the film, we don’t get to see your face and only get to hear your voice. Was it difficult to make an impact just through voice?

I have been a radio jockey since 2007, so the voice is my space. I was not worried about the voice part, I was worried about the face part if I will be able to express it through my face. So, it (voice) was not that tough, the difficult part was when you reveal that character; the visual part was something that I was scared about.

You had worked with Taapsee in Dil Juunglee, so how was your experience of working with her again in Blurr?

I and Taapsee are very good friends, so for us, it’s like we meet every two weeks. So, the friendship part worked because there was a lot of comfort between us. She is a fantastic actor and she gives a lot of space to her co-actor. I was just thinking that the off-screen friendship between us is not seen in the film. But thankfully, Ajay Bahl sir has managed that and you don’t see Taapsee and Abhilash, you see the characters. In some scenes, there used to be an issue, especially in kissing scenes. She is a professional actor, so she knows the technicality, but for me, it was a bit awkward. There are two kissing scenes in the film so that was a tricky part for me. She is such a good friend, so you don’t think anything like that, but as a character, you have to think like that. But, otherwise, it was a beautiful experience.
