MUMBAI: Vikrant Massey in this exclusive interview with TellyChakkar talks about his upcoming film Love Hostel. The actor speaks about having a healthy discussion with the director, actors who have inspired him with their work, and his personal takeaway from the film.  

Did you ever had any healthy argument or discussion with your director on the sets?

Of course, that is the ongoing process. When you are filming or shooting on the sets, for every scene and every shot, there are discussions that take place. But I am a very firm believer of the fact that as an actor, I am hired to portray something. Yes, I do share my opinions, I do share my mind, but it is the director or writer who knows far better than me. In this film, Shanker Raman is the director and writer of the film, so I need to have that trust in him. The challenge that is thrown at you is that a certain scene should be done according to what your director wants it to be and not how you want it. I really don’t think there was any moment where I could tip him over something.

Any actor or actress whose work has inspired you?

To begin with, Sanya Malhotra has really inspired me as a person. Anil Kapoor is one person who has really inspired me a lot with his work ethic and his commitment towards his work. The amount of hours he puts into his work and his efforts are unparalleled. I haven’t seen people of my age doing as much as he does. He really wants to go out there and perform, in spite of the fact that he has been performing and delivering for the last 30 years. Also, how can we forget about Shah Rukh Khan? He is the one who has inspired multiple generations. I am proud of the fact that he happens to be the producer of the film. 

Your personal takeaway from the film?
I really hope that audience gets entertained. We are in the entertainment business. I want my audience to be entertained and enjoy the film. This film has lots of possibilities for open interpretation. I believed that the audience will find something in the film that they can relate to.
