MUMBAI:  The trailer of The Freelancer starring Mohit Raina, Sushant Singh, and Anupam Kher was released a few days ago. The trailer has grabbed everyone’s attention, and as it is created by Neeraj Pandey, the audience has high expectations from it.

TellyChakkar recently interacted with Sushant Singh and spoke to him about his experience of working with Mohit Raina, comparison with The Kerala Story and Tiger Zinda Hai, and more...

After Baby, you have now teamed up with Neeraj Pandey, so how was your experience of working with him?

It was great! It is always lovely to be with Neeraj. He is such a knowledgeable, calm and composed man. So, it is always fun to meet him and work with him. When he offered this to me it was a no brainer for me because after Baby, a long gap happened as we couldn’t work together. So, it was a pleasure to work with him.

You and Mohit, both are from the TV background. So, how was the experience of sharing screen space with him?

It was a very wonderful experience because I have known Mohit for a very long time. Though we are not friends, we knew each other because we used to work out in the same gym. At that time he was looking for work; this was before his breakthrough with the show Devon Ke Dev Mahadev. So, I have seen him grow like he was a boy working out in the gym looking for work, and now, he is doing a central character in the series, and I am supporting him. So, it has been an interesting and rewarding experience. But, he has not changed; he is still the same person who has a sweet-innocent smile.

The trailer is quite good, but it does remind people of The Kerala Story and Tiger Zinda Hai. So, what do you have to say about the comparison?

If you see this genre wise, then it does fit into a genre. We are not hesitating from calling it an extraction series like Liam Neeson’s Taken or any other film. There are many films of this genre where a character is stuck somewhere and another character saves that character. The difference can only be scale. In a web series, I feel it has been attempted for the first time at this scale; in movies we have seen like in Tiger Zinda Hai.
