MUMBAI: Kadak Singh has been the topic of conversation as everyone was eager for the release of the movie. The movie is finally out and available to stream on ZEE5 now. The movie stars Pankaj Tripathi, Sanjana Sanghi, Parvathy Thiruvothu, Jaya Ahsan, Paresh Pahuja, and many more. The movie is directed by Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury and produced by WIZ Films along with KVN Productions. This is the first Hindi film of Bangladeshi actress Jaya Ahsan.

In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar, the director of Kadak Singh, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhary revealed a lot of interesting things when asked about his experience of working with big names, journey from ads to filmmaking and so much more.

3 National awards, how does that feel?

On this, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhary said that every film is a journey and not a race but giving a story which is absolutely different. Obviously, National awards mean a lot, it’s the highest level of award a film can get in our nation so it makes him very happy and these are pleasant accidents and surprises. Sometimes there’s an urge to tell a story to the audiences and we need to commit to tell that story.

You have worked with so many great artists like Pankaj Tripathi, Amitabh Bachchan, Taapsee Pannu and many more. How was your experience working with them?

On this, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhary said that he wants to be real and honest as much as possible. A scene determines what kind of pace it should have. A hospital where the patient is talking to the doctor or someone comes to meet someone, it can’t be pacy and racy. So we need to allow things to brew, marinating is very important. Talking about Amitabh Bachchan, the director tagged him as a stalwart and said that it was his (the director’s) first film, Shoojit Sircar was also there. It was like a cakewalk. If one is convinced with the story, then a kind of symbiotic relationship is built. Talking about Pankaj Tripathi, he said that they used to meet every 2-3 months and used to understand each other. Same thing with Taapsee Pannu. He added that he feels great working with so many great talents.

You started with ads and now you’re making movies. How did you find your way from ads to movies?

On this, Aniruddha Roy Chowdhary said that ads were a stepping stone, it helps to acquire a lot of discipline. In an award you have to tell a story in maximum 30 secs to 40 secs. It then came down to 10 secs and now it’s 5 secs. I always wanted to work in a long format, wanted to tell a story and it helps me to learn things. An artist should practice his or her art. So advertising was a school where he learned how to tell a story in a limited time. It taught me the discipline of filmmaking, storytelling, the economy of filmmaking and much more.
