Jassie Gill, Lisa Mishra and Kusha Kapila to mentor India’s first digital-only music reality show

MUMBAI: The growth of digital media has brought with it, a true revolution in our daily consumption of entertainment and information. Prime Time shows and artists are now both employed and discovered on the internet.

At times like these, it is important that industry veterans rise up to democratize the music community and support the young emerging talents. In such an attempt to give back to the music community, Punjabi pop sensation Jassie Gill, internet vocal sensation Lisa Mishra, and viral ‘South Delhi Girls’ influencer Kusha Kapila have come together to find the next top talent in the music industry, for the first time through a digital-only music reality show – ‘1,2,3… Riyaaz’.

The show organized and backed by India’s largest women’s lifestyle brand- iDiva and international social music and karaoke app- Smule, will give the everyday digital audience the chance to become performers themselves.

Being a digital-only reality show, participants will never have to stand in a queue for their shot at stardom and will be allowed as many re-takes as they want. The only condition here is to truly enjoy themselves.

This concept is very unique and I’m excited to be a part of this-” said popstar and mentor Jassie Gill.

Each of the three mentors will give the contestants 12 musical challenges across 12 weeks. With no restriction on the amount of submissions, each user has at least 36 unique chances to make it count. Winners will get the chance of starring in a bona fide music video alongside the mentors themselves.

Internet-sensation and mentor Lisa Mishra said- “I think you know me as somebody who was ‘discovered on the internet’. Digital is a great frontier for finding great talent.”

With the amount of talent that India’s diverse crowd pools within itself, ‘1,2,3… Riyaaz’ is a unique opportunity for the digital audience to express themselves. The ultimate goal of this unique reality show is to create a collaborative music platform that doesn’t look at music as an academic subject but rather as a means to connect with people and have fun. Participants need not be vocationally trained, all they need to be are people who really love music.

“Singing is very close to my heart because I consider myself a full-on singer but not a professional one and our show is all about the love for singing,” added Kusha Kapila, iDiva’s digital superstar, and mentor.

Each mentor releases new challenges every Thursday which users can participate in via the Smule app.
