MUMBAI: Actor Joy Sengupta, celebrated for his versatile performances across over television, films, and OTT platforms, is currently captivating audiences in Raisinghani vs Raisinghani on Sony LIV. Seen as Dev Raisinghani, Sengupta brings life to a complex character tinted with shades of grey, entangled in the intricate webs of legal disputes and familial intricacies. Drawing from his own personal journey, Sengupta recently shed light on how his family's deep-rooted connection to the legal profession has profoundly shaped and enriched his portrayal, adding layers of authenticity and depth to his character.

Reflecting on his earlier years, Joy Sengupta shared, “In my family, law runs deep. My father was a Superintendent of the Directorate of Revenue Service and it was his duty to get economic offenders prosecuted. To ensure appropriate punishments, he was instrumental in preparing and presenting air tight cases against smugglers, money launderers, and black money hoarders to well-known lawyers. Growing up amid legal minds and having witnessed the complexities of the legal world firsthand through my friends and acquaintances who are corporate lawyers, I’ve gained invaluable insights over the years and thus, Dev is the result of a lifetime immersed in the world of law,” added the actor, underscoring the depth of his connection to the character.

He further emphasized the emotional intricacies he brought to Dev Raisinghani. “Beyond the technicalities, it is the human emotions that truly shaped Dev’s journey. The ambition, the insecurities, the yearning for recognition – these are universal struggles I drew from my own experiences to infuse authenticity into the character,” elaborated Sengupta, highlighting his approach to portraying Dev’s internal conflicts in the Sony LIV Original.*
