MUMBAI : Actor Saurabh Saraswat who acted in award-winning movies and short films like CRD, Cat Sticks is recently seen in dark and suspenseful thriller Mafia on Zee 5 originals, essaying the character of Ritwik.

On talking about getting praises for the show he shares, "It is a great feeling to know that people are loving the show. A lot of people who were involved in the making put a lot of hard work to actualise it. Specially Birsa Das Gupta (Director) and Rohan Ghose and Aritra (Creator) because they stood by it till the end. So it is always nice to bear fruits for the hard work that you put in. Mafia is a show which helped me to gain popularity as it was released on Zee5 original. Mafia was able to reach out masses and hence I got recognition as an Actor. I would also like to praise all my co-actors who worked with all their power and honesty to elevate the scenes and made them come alive on camera."

On talking about his character in the show, "Precisely because it was a dark thriller, I didn't put myself into any sort of dark zone. I am a trained actor and so I used my craft to create my character 'Ritwik'. I feel it's so important to have a craft otherwise there are chances of dwelling into your character's life which can in turn affect your life. The only challenge was the Language. Being a non-Bengali, I had to learn Bangla but honestly the director made things really easy for me when he constantly encouraged me to focus on the performance and use English wherever I am having difficulty with the dialogues. Otherwise it was a joyful journey to portray Ritwik."
