MUMBAI: Manoj Bajpayee is a legend that needs no introduction as his acting talent and performances over the years say enough about how great an artist and a person he is. Manoj Bajpayee was seen in the 2021 OTT series ‘Silence… Can You Here It?’ which along with Manoj Bajpayee, also featured Prachi Desai, Garima Yagnik, Barkha Singh, Arjun Mathur and a few more actors.

The series was a crime thriller and was loved by the audience very much. This time, the makers are back with a second season that is, Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout wherein we get to watch Manoj Najpayee and Prachi Desai once again. The series will be available to stream on ZEE5 from 16th April.

Team Tellychakkar got in touch with Manoj Bajpayee who gave some intriguing answers when asked about the shift in the industry and how it might have happened.

There was a time in the industry when people used to think that when it came to actors like Manoj Bajpayee, or Irrfan Khan, they should have a particular type of role in movies and even the audience thought so. However, it’s been a few years that we have been getting to watch Manoj Bajpayee in projects like ‘Killer Soup’ and ‘Sirf Ek Banda Kaafi Hai’, and no one in the audience thinks that this is an off-beat movie or a parallel movie. According to you (Manoj Bajpayee), how did this whole narrative shift?

To this, Manoj Bajpayee said, “Dheere dheere karke shift hua aur main iss yakeen ke saath keh sakta hoon ki ye pehla seed iss change ka dala tha Ram Gopal Varma ne ‘Satya’ se. Woh itni badi cult film hui, saare aade-tedhe dikhne wale hum log, daadhi badhaye hue, there was nothing very beautiful about us how we looked but we were all just playing characters and that was the time audience got a new surprise ke aisi bhi jo hai filme ho sakti hai., iss tarah ke bhi performances ho sakte hai, which is something that we have seen, something that we have experienced in our life. Slowly slowly cheeze change hui fir directors bahar se aaye bohot saare aur unn directors ne apni apni kahaani kehni shuru ki. They wanted their protagonists, their heroes, their main actors and we were all there you know, we were all existing at that time and got lucky to be… We were there all the time for the directors to look at us and think of us as the main lead. It all happened, slowly it happened. It didn’t happen overnight but now with the OTT, the pace is too much. Things are changing almost every five days. There's a new thing, new way of looking at stories which are coming into it and we have to match with the changing time. So yeah if you are at ease, if you think that you everything, you are going to be left behind. You have to keep changing your method, keep changing yourself to this new changing world.”

We asked Manoj Bajpayee that if it wasn't for RGV, and OTT, does he think that a project like Family Man could have been made with him in the lead?

To this, Manoj Bajpayee said, “I doubt, you know, RGV, Shekhar Kapoor, Mani Ratnam, they happened almost at the same time in the gap of say 3-4 years but ‘Satya’ is something which has given it a lot more speed. RGV has given so many new directors who mattered so much in the coming times and now there are so many new directors, they are changing things, they are doing things in their own ways, telling their own stories you know very differently. So you are actually spoilt for choices.”
