For me to be able to commit myself completely on screen, I have to be able to live a full life off screen: Vidya Balan

MUMBAI: The glitz, the glam and of course the paparazzi – there’s something about B-Town celebrities that’s truly mesmerizing. Be it their airport looks that make headlines or gossip around them that adds to the jazz, the stardom around Bollywood’s superstars is indeed what makes them who they are. And, if you’re someone who’s bitten by the curiosity bug, whose pastime includes stalking celebrities’ social feed and who thrives on all the buzz around B-Town, you are certainly in for an entertaining ride this May! Zee Café, one of the leading English entertainment channels, brings to you a star-studded line-up of Bollywood superstars THEN and NOW in the back-to-back episodes of Look Who’s Talking with Niranjan and Starry Nights airing weekdays at 11AM only on Zee Café and Zee Café HD.

Known for pioneering a change in the portrayal of women in Hindi cinema with her roles in female-led films, she is the recipient of several awards, including a National Film Award and six Filmfare Awards. A Padma Shri Awardee, she has been a role model for many women to follow their dreams because age is just a number. Simple yet so elegantly poised with deep grounded cultures, Vidya Balan truly believes in making things happen rather than expecting the universe to gift it to her. Catch this gem of a person converse with Niranjan Iyengar and Komal Natha in reruns of Look Who’s Talking with Niranjan and Starry Nights 2.Oh!,this Tuesday, May 12, 2020 only on Zee Café.

Vidya Balan talks about petty comments that truly hurt people, especially those pointed out by the media. She said, “When someone says you’re not beautiful, especially to a girl, it can be very damaging towards their self-confidence.”

Vidya opened up about how celebrities are easily exploited by media persons simply because they are accomplished actors or actresses. She called them out by saying, “Every day, I would pick up the paper hoping for something good. Sometimes I would find stories about my weight, at times about the way I dressed and most absurd was when I came across a headline that mentioned it rained heavily today, must be Vidya Balan’s fault.”

When Niranjan stated the obvious about the glamour biz being about fitting a certain image, Vidya Balan said, “I am not one of those skinny girls, I am a well-endowed South-Indian girl with my curves in place.”

Talking about a common notion about married woman, Vidya Balan says, “It’s ridiculous to think that a married woman is only seen as able to get pregnant and have children.”

Having rejected a big project by director Sujoy Ghosh back in 2014, she cited the following reason, “For me to be able to commit myself completely on screen, I have to be able to live a full life off screen. That could be reading, watching plays or maybe even enjoy the scenic beauty.”

While on the show Starry Nights 2.Oh!, Vidya Balan talked about her upbringing. She said, “I was brought up with the feeling that I was the most important person in my life and I think that’s what makes all the difference.”

Priya, Vidya’s sister has mentioned time and again that they as soul sisters have each other’s back. She supported that statement by saying, “Anytime, I didn’t know how to manoeuvre through a particular situation, I would turn to Vidya. Exceptional fact about her is that she won’t point you in a particular direction but rather talks you through it where you end up owning the solution.”

With that as only the teaser, there’s tons of entertainment in store! Watch out for your favourite celebrity in the blockbuster line-up of the two talk shows on Zee Café.
