MUMBAI: In a recent development, Raj Kumar Rao has been roped in for the Hindi remake of the Telugu crime thriller movie ‘HIT‘. The film follows the story of a cop who has to perform his duty keeping aside his personal issues.

The original Telugu version is available on Amazon Prime Video and many have already given it a go. Earlier when remakes of South Indian movies were made, the advantage was that not many people from other parts of the country had seen it. But now with the film being available on a platform like Prime Video will people be interested in its remake?

Such announcements might in fact raise people’s curiosity about the original version, and instead of waiting for the remake, they might just watch it instantly. That raises the risk for the remake. This is one of those risks OTT poses for filmmakers.

Will the audience be interested in something they have already seen and can watch it again whenever they want? How Raj Kumar Rao’s version of ‘Hit’ will fare when it gets released is yet to be seen, but there is no denying that this is one hell of a risky ride down the lane.
