MUMBAI: Omung Kumar is an Indian film director and production designer, known for his works in Hindi cinema.

He made his directorial debut with the 2014 biographical sports drama Mary Kom starring Priyanka Chopra and then also made his second film Sarbjit which was a biopic based on the life of "Sarabjit Singh”

Both films were critically acclaimed movies and did well at the Box – Office.

He is also known for constructing the lovely house of Bigg Boss. He comes out with a new concept each season. 

Temptation Island India Season 1 will be beginning soon on JioCinema and now the entire construction of the villa is done by Omung Kumar and the house looks extremely beautiful.

TellyChakkar got in touch with the Omung and asked him what was the thought behind building the villa and what are the challenges he faced while building the villa.

What was the thought of building this beautiful villa?

The thought was love, temptation and it’s a formatted show and when it comes to India how do I change it to our look and not copy and still have the international touch? I thought about bringing love to every room and corner of the house. The design would change in every room with the word love, with every emotion be it fire, sexual, love and it gives us a thought to build the room and differentiate.

What were the challenges in building it?

It was a bungalow we got and we had to change it. It's a challenge like how to make it look like an Indian format and still keep the essence of the show and it should look like a holiday room. Every room looks like a concede room but getting that right was very difficult to bring that Indian touch.

How did you come up with the different themes for Girls and boys? What was the thought behind the color coordination?

It’s a given fact that female Colour coordination on love is always different. Their curtains are more floral filled with Flowers and give it a feminine touch. We also knew what would suit best there as far as the males are concerned you will chose charcoals, chocolate brown and black which goes in the definition of manly and I wouldn’t want them to come and stay in a floral place and it worked beautifully, we got one white villa and one charcoal villa so it helped us and differentiation was easy.

How much time did you take to build the villas?

It took us 30 – 35 days to build this.

What are your upcoming projects?

I will be shooting for a movie in April and will be announcing it in the month of January.

Well, there is no doubt that Omung Kumar is one of the best production designers we have and the house that he built for temptations island is gorgeous and beautiful.
