Web has now become the platform for Indo-international projects like The White Tiger and The Illegal

MUMBAI: With a surge in wide variety of content from all spheres on web, it has no become a good medium for Indo-international projects to reach the audiences. Gone are the days where one had to download a movie through various ways and means or visit the theatre, all these projects now get a platform with wide reach.

Films like A Suitable Boy, Funny Boy, The White Tiger and the upcoming The Illegal, are examples of Indo-international projects that could be deprived of the limelight had there not been a platform like web, OTT's.

 Funny Boy , a film that released in 2020 directed by Deepa Mehta. A Canadian drama film that entails a story of a young boy who falls in love with his male classmate just as political tensions increase between the Sinhalese and Tamil. The film was shot in Canada.

 A Suitable Boy , that recently premiered starring Ishaan Khattar, Tabu, Rasika Duggal and Tanya Maniktala is a BBC Television drama mini series, completely loved by audiences. Based on the book titled 'A Suitable Boy' by Vikram Seth, the story has wooed audiences with its nuanced performances and impactful storytelling.

 The Illegal , soon will be having a global premiere on Amazon Prime Video, a platform with a reach in over 240 countries and territories. The story gritty and realistic one, about a young film school student from middle-class India who's forced to drop out to support his family while staying in the United States as an undocumented worker. The film was one of the shortlisted films for Oscar nominations, and that in itself is a huge feat. Written and Directed by Danish Renzu, starring Life of Pi's Suraj Sharma in the lead. 

 The White Tiger, a recent release on the web that essays the story of an ambitious driver of a rich Indian family, that takes a leap of faith with his quick wit and cunning to escape poverty to rise to the top as an entrepreneur. The film has garnered many praises for its impressive performances. Starring Rajkummar Rao, Priyanka Chopra and Adarsh Gaurav.

In the wake of a pandemic, OTT has become a constant source of content and even as things normalise again, web will hold a strong ground when it comes to unconventional, strong, one of a kind storylines with the courtesy of such Indo-international projects.

While, many have been an interesting watch, The Illegal is yet to premiere and the anticipation is just too much to experience the masterpiece.
