MUMBAI: Chikan, an embroidery style from Lucknow, was introduced during the times of Noor Jahan, the wife of Mughal Emperor Jehangir. Since then, this fine artistry has won admirers all around the globe.
The embroidery is a timeless art and has caught the fancy of not only people who love wearing ethnic wear but also Bollywood actresses, celebrities, and fashion designers. Several Bollywood divas like Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Deepika Padukone have been spotted wearing chikan kurtis and sarees. TV stars too seem to have a chikan fetish.
Among them, Chahatt Khanna, seen in TV shows like Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Qubool Hai, seems to be in love with chikan work.
