MUMBAI: Aladdin - Naam Toh Suna Hoga is an Indian fantasy television series that aired on Sony SAB. It's plot was based on the famous Middle-Eastern folklore named 'Arabian Nights' most beloved and popular character worldwide - Aladdin. Based on the folklore's storyline, the protagonist Aladdin life changes completely after he finds a magical lamp, that has a genie trapped inside it. Furthermore, the plot mainly revolves around pauper Aladdin's love story with Princess Yasmine, who's the daughter of the Sultan of Agrabah.
The series premiered on 21st August 2018 and ended on 5 February 2021.
Moving ahead to the show's cast, initially Siddharth Nigam portrayed Aladdin on-screen while Avneet Kaur played Yasmine opposite to him. Later, after the first COVID-19 lockdown was uplifted, telly actress Ashi Singh was seen replacing Avneet as on-screen Princess Yasmine. Meanwhile, Raashul Tandon played the genie inside the lamp.
Going by the former reports, Avneet Kaur cited her fear of Coronavirus for leaving the show. She said, “I decided to leave the show because of the Coronavirus crisis. I suffered from dengue last year but resumed work despite my immunity not being strong. There was the stress of preparing for my board exams, too, at that time. It made me really weak. So, I am scared of resuming shoots at the moment. My parents and I decided that it’s better for me to quit. I am sad, but health comes first.”.
Consequently, in the initial days, Ashi Singh was subjected to a lot of criticism for replacing Avneet as Yasmine as fans wanted the former actress to return, owing to her natural on-screen chemistry with Siddharth's Aladdin.
However, without paying any heed to the virtual hatred, Ashi played her role quite elegantly and finally succeeded to create a positive impression in the hearts of her fans and followers through Yasmine's on-screen portrayal; such that the show's viewers started appreciating her acting chops and on-screen chemistry with Siddharth, which too kindled effortlessly.
For a more gripping impact as an on-screen couple, Siddharth and Ashi starred in their music video 'Kareeb' and were looking ravishing together in their new avatars and of course their on-screen chemistry. This time, the audience loved and applauded their on-screen couple-chemistry and acting skills, such that the video garnered a sweeping figure of more than 16 million views. 'Kareeb' had released on this year's 27th April and Vishal Dadlani had lent his vocals for the song.
