MUMBAI: Saath Nibhaana Saathiya is an Indian television drama which premiered on 3 May 2010 on Star Plus and gained massive popularity for it's various plotline antics. The show's viewers had been hooked to it since the first day of it's airing to last, credits being given to the outstanding on-screen performances that were delivered by telly actresses like Rupal Patel, Giaa Manek, Ruchaa Hasabnis, Mohammad Nazim and Devoleena Bhattacharjee (who later replaced Giaa) as the show's pivotal leads for playing the roles of Kokila Modi, Gopi Modi, Rashi Modi and Ahem Modi, respectively.
Despite it's huge cast line, the two most-poignant characters whose on-screen antics were taken a note of by both the show's viewers and non-viewers were the saas-bahu duo of Kokila Modi and more essentially, Gopi Modi. The show garnered immense popularity almost a decade ago and with time, referral clips from the show starring Gopi Bahu, Rashi and Kokila Modi were drawn out of it for creating hilarious memes, which went viral virtually in no time.
Gopi Bahu turned an iconic character for her hilarious scene, wherein she was shown washing her husband Ahem's laptop with a dishwasher and then hanging it on the clothes' rope outside for letting it to dry. Meanwhile, on returning home, Ahem went furiously berserk on witnessing the same. Gopi did so since the storyline portrayed her as completely illiterate and who had no knowledge of handling technical gadgets.
Besides that, Gopi's on-screen character underwent massive dynamic changes as she initially, she was a shy, docile and a very sweet girl who fell prey to the various cunning conspiracies that occured in her vicinity. Hence, with the life lessons from her 'Maaji' (Kokila Modi) and her own life experiences, Gopi flourished herself on her own into being empowered, independant and living her life on her own terms.
Even Ahem, who regretted marrying her initially, understood her worth with her transformation and felt guilty of his misbehaviour towards her.
Initially, actress Giaa Manek used to play Gopi's role, who was later replaced by telly actress Devoleena Bhattacharjee and both of these characters have enacted Gopi Bahu's crazy and later, empowering antics very well.
Hence, keeping Giaa and Devoleena's on-screen acting chops aside for now, today we are going to see whose 'Gopi Bahu' appeal was visually better and more pleasing amid that of telly actresses Giaa Manek and Devoleena Bhattacharjee's.
Scroll down below:
1. Giaa Manek
Giaa played the naive and docile-natured Gopi Bahu, who was very sensitive-natured. She was totally illiterate and had never been exposed to any gadget before for the biased treatment she received from her maternal family since her childhood.
2. Debolina Bhattacharjee
Devoleena portrayed the stronger version of Gopi Bahu, who underwent formal education with the help of her mother-in-law Kokila Modi, became empowered and mastered the art of dealing with the cruel world by herself.
