#OldIsGold: Magic of old songs recreated for latest movies

There’s something magical old songs, which have the power to revoke memories. They become even more interesting when recreated to match the sensibilities of the newer generations.

From peppy remixing to cool-lingo lyrics, these songs make a great impact on us. There’s no dearth of such songs in B-Town. We take a look at ten old songs that were recreated for latest hits…read on:

Tumhe Apna Banane Ki:

Continuing the remix streak, the makers have incorporated the haunting Tumhe Apna Banane Ki from Sadak into Hate Story 3. With Sharman Joshi and Zarine Khan heating it up, the old hit gets a tangy new twist.

Aaj Phir Tum Pe:

Hate Story 2 popularised this classic romance number. Adding bolder scenes and provocative tilt to suit the sleaze franchise, the makers made a generation of youngster swoon.

Aye Mere Humsafar (All Is Well) :

The cult romantic song that turned Aamir Khan and Juhi Chawla into overnight sensations. It was reused on Abhishek Bachchan and Asin in their August release. While the movie tanked, the song rekindled the lovers in us.

Is Kadar Pyaar Hai:

Sonu’s classic song was used in the Kunal Khemu-starrer Bhaag Johnny this year. Even though the movie vanished without a trace, the song was like the saving grace.

Har Kisi Ko Nahi Milta:

This all-time hit melody was recreated with a touch of modern sensibilities in Akshay Kumar’s Boss. It did a major boost for the movie. Why wouldn’t it!

Hawa Hawai:

The bohemian number that made Sridevi the undisputed queen of sass was adapted for Shaitaan. While the original hook was retained, there were plenty of changes to the lyrics to make it appealing to the youth. Can’t complain, can we?

Dhak Dhak Karne Laga:

This is the song that launched Madhuri Dixit into the main league. Known as the Dhak Dhak girl of Bollywood, she danced her way into our hearts. Sticking to that notion, the song was used in Nautanki Saala. While the blazing orange sari was retained, the lyrics were jazzed up a little.

Na Jaane Kahan Se Aaya Hai:

Another classic Sridevi number underwent a major revamp when the female-centric lyrics were changed to suit a pin-up boy. With both Chitrangada Singh and Prachi Desai vying for hod-bod Johna Abraham’s affections, the song quickly became a chartbuster.

Bachna Aye Haseeno:

Dancing to his papa Rishi Kapoor’s bumper hit, Ranbir delivered his own style of flamboyance in this playful number. It also helped that he had three beautiful women- Deepika Padukone, Bipasha Basu and Minisha Lamba for company.

Eena Meena Deeka:

Shaandaar may not have been that shaandaar at the BO, but this pop classic, which sees Shahid and Alia at their glorious best, was a sure shot audience-puller.
