The Eid release, Sultan, is already creating waves…thanks to the number of controversies surrounding it. While we don’t doubt Salman Khan movie’s status at the BO, we sure know that these issues have further piqued our curiosity about this action drama. We take a look at the controversies that surround the Friday release:
The infamous rape comment:
When Salman was asked to describe his preparation for the role of a wrestler in Sultan, he compared his rigorous training to a ‘raped woman’. Even though he retracted the statement, it became a big talking point on social media where certain people stood by his comment, while others bashed him for the insensitive remark. A certain section of the media had even called for the boycotting of Sallu’s movies.
The rift with Arijit Singh:
Current sensation Arijit Singh penned a long status for Salman, where the singer talked about his song being dropped from the upcoming movie due to an alleged misunderstanding between the duo. As the situation stands right now, Salman has not forgiven the singer yet. Hmm…interesting.
When the first few posters of the movie were released, twitterati broke out into a riot, calling the still the most photoshopped poster ever. Even Salman’s enviable abs were questioned by his fans and followers. Phew!
The Morna controversy:
When Salman thanked his fans for their warm welcome in Muzaffarnagar, a complaint was filed in a Muzaffarnagar court against the superstar and director Ali Abbas Zafar for showing Bihargarh village in Morna Tehsil as Rewari (Haryana). Apparently a set was recreated in UP as Haryana. Whoa!
The movie, directed by Ali Abbas Zafar and produced under Yash Raj Films, stars Anushka Sharma, Randeep Hooda as Sultan's coach and Amit Sadh as Sultan's brother. It released today.
