Anees Bazmi "angry" with Boney for giving away dates to Sooraj Barjatya

Anees Bazmi
Anees Bazmi who is to direct the No Entry sequel for producer Boney Kapoor seemed far from convinced about the postponement of his film to accommodate Sooraj Barjatya’s new project with Salman Khan. Reacting sharply to the news report that Boney has “given away” Salman’s dates to Sooraj, Anees says, “Boney Kapoor has not spoken to me about this. Why would he give away the dates for our film to another filmmaker? We all love Soorajji’s cinema and in fact I paid my own humble tribute to his family-oriented cinema in Ready. But that doesn’t mean his film would be made with some other director’s dates.” Pausing for breath Anees says, “In any case now I am busy with the sequel to Welcome.” The buzz is that eminently saleable Sonakshi Sinha will be paired for the first time, opposite John Abraham in Welcome Back. Apparently the very busy actress’ dates for Welcome Back are currently on a ‘clash’ course with the new Prabhudheva project opposite Ajay Devgn. Just as Boney has adjusted his dates with Sooraj for Salman, Anees needs to work out a compromise schedule for Sonakshi’s dates with Prabhudheva. What goes around...and so on. Incidentally there’s a deep Boney connect to Sooraj’s new project. Last year the buzz around tinsel town was that Sooraj’s new film was entitled Bade Bhaiyya that Salman played the title role while Arjun Kapoor was reportedly his sibling in Sooraj’s new paarivarik film. Sooraj in a no-holds-barred interview to us had laughed off the rumours, joking, “Bade Bhaiyya sounds like my kind of cinema. But no, my new film is not titled that. And there is no Arjun in the film, though some day I’d like to work with him.” Sooraj took nearly four years to write the script that he would be shooting with Salman. In an earlier interview to me Sooraj Barjatya revealed, “It’s a family film again. It would convey all the joys and sorrows of a joint family. It will have tears and laughter and of course celebration. But at the same time it’d be a little different from the family films I’ve made in the past. The definition of family values has changed in recent years. My film would have to reflect that change. The closure of the script will happen only when a voice from within me says it’s complete. Salman is like my brother. I am working on a script that will hopefully bring out the best in Salman.”
