MUMBAI: Windows is known to offer entertaining and thought-provoking films for the audiences in summer. Director duo Nandita Roy and Shiboprosad Mukherjee have released films like Belaseshe, Posto, Haami, Praktan, Belashuru in their direction in the month of May alone, ensuring a remarkable footfall in theatres. In keeping with the trend, they released their produced film, Fatafati, last year, which too was a big success story. This year, Windows is bringing “Dabaru”, presented by Nandita Roy and Sanjay Agarwal and directed by Pathikrit Basu, inspired from the life of Surya Sekhar Ganguly, India's youngest grandmaster.

Today marks the much-anticipated release of "Dabaru" that takes audiences on an emotional and inspirational journey through the life of Souro, a young chess prodigy who defies all odds to achieve greatness.

The life of Souro, will be portrayed by Samadarshi Sarkar (childhood of Souro) and Arghya Basu Roy (the elder version of Souro).  The film beautifully portrays Souro's struggles and triumphs, highlighting the pivotal role of his coach, Rathindra, in nurturing his exceptional talent.

Shiboprosad Mukherjee, the creative producer of the film, said, “Despite the heat, people have filled up theatres in summer for our films and we can only hope they will do the same for Dabaru, a first-of-its-kind chess film inspired from the life of Surya Sekhar Ganguly.”

Director Pathikrit Basu shared his vision saying, "I was deeply moved by Surya Sekhar Ganguly's journey, and it was a privilege to bring this inspiring story to the screen. 'Dabaru' not only celebrates the game of chess but also underscores the parallels between chess and life, where strategy, resilience, and perseverance are key."

The cast of the film includes the likes of Samadarshi Sarkar, Argha Basu Roy, Rituparna Sengupta, Chiranjit Chakraborty, Dipankar De, Koushik Sen, Biswanath Basu, Sanghasri Sinha Mitra.
