In an exclusive chat with TellyChakkar, Dhanoa spoke candidly about his experience working with the young talents, the challenges of directing Romeo S3, and why he believes in giving debutants a platform to shine.

How was your experience working with Palak Tiwari and Anoop Singh?

“It was a genuinely good experience,” Dhanoa shared. “I was working with both of them for the very first time. Over the years, I’ve often chosen to work with newcomers, and Palak and Anoop were no different. Despite being debutants, they didn’t feel like first-timers at all. Their dedication, acting chops, and on-screen presence were extremely impressive — I truly believe they have the potential to be future stars.”

Was there a particular scene that you found especially challenging to direct?

“Yes, definitely,” the director admitted. “There’s a sequence involving three intense monologues by Anoop. Initially, I wasn’t sure if he would be able to deliver them convincingly. Monologues are never easy — they demand focus, depth, and emotion. But during our workshops, Anoop surprised me. He performed them with such command and nuance that my doubts vanished. Those scenes were the most challenging to execute, but also the most rewarding.”

With Romeo S3 now reaching an even wider audience through its television premiere, Guddu Dhanoa’s knack for storytelling and talent-spotting once again takes centre stage proving that compelling cinema doesn’t always need a seasoned star cast when fresh energy and good direction align perfectly.
