It has nearly been two decades that the Shah Rukh Khan-Kajol chemistry sizzled on the silver screen in YRF’s longest running film Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) but little did Aditya Chopra know that his debut directorial film would create unparalleled magic.
Now, in an ode to the his friend and well wisher Adi (as Aditya is lovingly called), Karan Johar has decided to recreate the magic of Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge (DDLJ) with new age stars Alia Bhatt and Varun Dhawan.
Johar has a special place in his heart for DDLJ ever since he was given the chance to be a part of the blockbuster. He will however don the producer’s hat while the tribute film would be directed by newcomer Shashank Khaitan.
It is however said that Johar has no intention to remake the film. The characters of Varun and Alia will follow the lines of Raj and Simran-the characters played by SRK and Kajol. The hunt for an actor to fit into the boots of the villain -the arrogant alpha male played by Parmeet Sethi-is still on.
