MUMBAI: Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon fame actress Elli AvrRam, who hails from Sweden and now is based in Mumbai, spoke about the harsh issues that a foreigner faces on a regular basis.  

With her hard work, the talented actress has carved a niche for herself in Bollywood and yet there are certain problems that she still faces for being a ‘gori’.  

The actress who has also participated in Bigg Boss says that there is already a perception about foreigners. In an interview with Bollywood Bubble, Elli AvrRam said, “There is a perception about foreigners like gori ladkiya aisi hai. So, it’s already a harsh perception about you already.”

She highlighted the fact that one does not need to say the same on someone’s face as they can feel it. “It’s not necessary that someone even have to say something, you just feel it by the looks, by the energies. That of course is very difficult to live with it. It is very uncomfortable. It is something which you experience every day the moment you leave home.”

Elli said that she has been judged for her outfits as well.

“If you wear shorts or ganjees, you are being stared at. I am not used to that. Even if I am fully covered, I am still judged because I am a foreigner,” said Elli.

The actress added, “There is a perception that we don’t have families and that we don’t really have a culture, value system and that we are free and we have zero culture. But it’s not true at all. The cultures are different. But we are also family-oriented.”

She said how sometimes one can be misjudged. “I can be sweet and kind but that can be misunderstood,” said the actress.

On the work front, Elli AvrRam is known for her Bollywood movie Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon. Her other film projects include Mickey Virus, One Night Stand, Naam Shabana, Malang, among others. She also participated in Bigg Boss 7.
