Shefali Shah on the game-changing moment in her acting journey

I haven’t done as much work in my entire life as I did last year. I think the shift for me was definitely Delhi Crime. I have been appreciated many times but that appreciation has never transformed into work or the kind of work that I wanted to do. There were boxes that women needed to fit. They worked frpm 18 to 25 years of age. They didn’t know what to do with women. In Delhi Crime, we talked about a woman who was my age. I have to give credit to the director and casting director that they took a chance on me. Because I am not a star, but they wanted an actor for the role. So, I can say that Delhi Crime definitely changed things for me, so today I am getting the roles that I wanted to do. People have started writing about me.

The ability for people, particularly in the cinema fraternity, to stick to their word. They will say that you are very good, but that does not translate to nothing. So don’t just tell me that I am good. "Oh God we want to work you." Really? I want to work with you too. Then nothing happens. When they meet you again at the next party, they will repeat the same thing. Moreover, giving preferences to stars is very annoying now. Because we have now woken up and know that we need to be actors. And I am glad that OTT is breaking that for us. Give credit where it is due. So I really wish that should change in the industry.

Team TellyChakkar wishes you a very Happy Women's Day.
