Ram Gopal Varma slammed for his film's poster for this reason

MUMBAI: Ram Gopal Varma is synonymous with controversies. He, however, handles it with complete calm. Something similar happened recently after the filmmaker unveiled the poster of his upcoming film, The Man Who Killed Gandhi. The poster of it, which showed Mahatma Gandhi's half-face morphed with that of his assassinator Nathuram Godse, has irked several people. Taking to his Twitter, Ram Gopal Varma then shared one such complaint and also justified himself.  "The idea behind this image of the amalgamation is like Godse killing himself by killing Gandhi," read his first tweet that he shared along with the poster.

The criticism shared by RGV on his page read, "OUTRAGEOUS POSTER! To morph the pictures of the assassin and the assassinated, and to weld them together for a film is wicked. Even evil. At the very least it shows a lack of respect for human life and a gross insensitivity to basic human decencies. Is this a nasty attempt to show that Godse the assassin is half-Gandhi or that Gandhi the victim is half-Godse? In which moral Universe will this irresponsibility be considered OK?"

It continued, "This is unparalleled mischief. I ask that Sri Ram Gopal Varma withdraw this poster and acknowledge a colossal failure of judgement and rectitude. In the past he changed film titles when he had to do so, he withdrew from films he earlier threatened he would make. There are no principles involved, he is just having fun in an upside world where the assasin is valued more than his victim."

Ram Gopal Varma, however, justified himself by asking the man to not jump to conclusions and wait for the film to release. He tweeted, "The intention of the morph will be understood in the final film and i am within my rights to exercise my artistic vision like u are in offending God believers..Its not right on ur part to jump the gun even before u see final product. I suggest u take a chill pill and have a beer."

Have a look.
