MUMBAI: Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur will be seen together for the first time in the upcoming sports drama ‘Jersey’. The sports drama features Shahid Kapoor as a failed cricketer and a helpless father who wishes to fulfill his son’s wish, while Mrunal Thakur portrays the character of his working wife. Both the actors are looking sizzling hot together in the songs of the film.

The release has now been postponed by a week to April 22. A writer Rajneesh Jaiswal has filed a case against the makers, alleging that the film's story/script is his. The matter is to be heard by Justice Chagla in Mumbai High Court, today. We wonder if that is one of the reasons that the film got pushed to next week.

'Jersey' is directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, presented by Allu Arvind and produced by Dil Raju, S. Naga Vamsi, and Aman Gill.

In a statement earlier, Gill had said, “As a team, we have put our blood sweat and tears into ‘Jersey’ and would like our beloved film to reach all of you in the widest possible way. Jersey will now release on 22nd April.”

By postponing the date, Jersey, which was delayed multiple times in the past, has avoided a clash at the box office with the multilingual actioner KGF: Chapter 2. The film stars Yash, Sanjay Dutt, Srinidhi Shetty, Raveena Tandon, and Prakash Raj.

Shahid, who will work with his Pankaj in Jersey, recently spoke about how he thought he wouldn't be an actor and people didn't know whose son he was. Speaking at the launch event for the second trailer of the film, Shahid had said, "Mujhe laga hi nahi tha ki mai actor ban paaunga. Kyunki zyadatar log jaante hi nahi the ki main dad ka beta hu" (I didn't think I could become an actor because most of the people were not aware that I am my dad's son).
