MUMBAI: Ever since the demise of the chhichhore actor, Sushant Singh Rajpit, the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) probed the drugs angle and arrested Rhea Chakraborty and her brother Showik Chakraborty for their involvement. Rhea was granted bail by Bombay HC recently under certain guidelines and walked out of Byculla Jail on October 7. As the bail plea hearing of Rhea Chakraborty’s brother was on Tuesday, in a significant development in SSR’s death case, as per the latest reports, the NDPS court has extended Showik’s judicial custody. 

According to a report in India.com, Showik Chakraborty’s judicial custody was extended till November 3.  The report stated that the bail plea of Rhea Chakraborty’s brother was heard by the special Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act court and extended. Showik’s bail plea was heard on Tuesday, after he was earlier remanded to custody till October 20.

Meanwhile, Showik Chakraborty was arrested after he was taken for questioning by the NCB officials. The NCB searched Rhea Chakraborty’s residence and took Showik along soon after. He remained in NCB custody till September 9 and was then sent to jail. After Showik’s arrest, sister Rhea was questioned by the NCB for three days in a row. She was later arrested on September 8. While Showik's continues to be in custody, SSR's staff members Dipesh Sawant and Samuel Miranda, who were arrested have also been granted bail. 

The NCB continues to investigate the alleged drug nexus of Bollywood and drugs angle following the death of actor Sushant Singh Rajput. They questioned top celebrities like Deepika Padukone, Sara Ali Khan, Shraddha Kapoor and others. It was recently that Arjun Rampal’s girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades’ brother was arrested by the NCB.
