A 23-year-old man working as a waiter was arrested by the Mumbai police for allegedly sending threatening text messages to actress Madhuri Dixit on her mobile phone. The man identified as Praveenkumar Pradhan threatened to kill the actress and her sons. He also claimed of having links with underworld gangster Chotta Rajan. The Cyber Cell department that arrested Praveen yesterday produced him in court which remanded him to police custody. As per the police, the accused had sent threat messages to Madhuri's mobile phone at 3 am on 25 November following which her personal assistant approached the police. More threat messages addressed to Madhuri is believed to have been sent and in one of these messages the accused is said to have written that he had trained a 15-year-old boy in handling weapons and bombs and the boy would barge into Madhuri's home to extort money. The accused is believed to have told the police that he sent the threat messages to extort money and he would have made a claim had Madhuri or her staff called him. For the moment, the police are to trying to find out if the accused really has underworld connections or if he is bluffing.
