Trailer Review: Gabbar Is Back

Gabbar Is Back

Akshay Kumar's fixation of remaking and starring in South Indian blockbuster hits continues with his upcoming next, Gabbar Is Back, an official remake of  A.R. Murugadoss's 2002 hit Ramanna. The trailer released yesterday shows Khiladi Kumar doing what he does best - beating the crap out of people- only this time his object of ire happens to be the corrupt. So one can expect Robinhood Akshay to break a lot more bones, glasses and all other things brittle.

From the looks of the trailer, this one essentially looks to be nothing but old wine in a new bottle. Akshay plays the role of a vigilante who is a professor by occupation. He hunts down the corrupt and metes out some mean physical punishment to them which makes them stay away from corruption in future. The name Gabbar (a takeoff from Bollywood's famed villain from Sholay) is used as a hyperbole to denote extreme fear that the corrupt feels when they hear the name Gabbar. Naam villain ka par kaam hero ka.

While plot wise the movie may not offer anything new, trust Akshay to bring in his own innovations with his stunts and dialogues especially the part where he utters the famous words made immortal by the late Amjad Khan- Kitne aadmi the. Shruti Hassan looks to be just an arm candy in the scheme of things much like Sonakshi Sinha.

For those who love Akshay's action packed sequence, Gabbar would yet be another treat to watch.
