Actor Pankaj B Singh, who is currently enjoying his acting phase with Life OK’s Shapath, further fuels his creativity by staging plays. The actor, who last year staged Kknock Kknock with Hasan Zaidi and Rajesh Khera, is all set to direct the play Baramaasi on 19 September, an adaptation of a novel written by Gyan Chaturvedi . And playing the leads will be his wife Prinal Oberoi, Rana Pratap (Ramesh of 5 Stars commercial fame), Alefia Kapadia and Nikhil Pandey (Pyaar Ka Dard Hai). Talking about his project, Pankaj shares, “It is a very interesting and dramatic play. It is about the Dubey family who live life in an attempt to fulfill aspirations amidst difficult situations. From a rich classy royal set up in Knock Knock, which dealt with extra marital affair, to Baramaasi, a story focusing on a lower middle class family in Alipura in Jhansi, the experience has been completely different and challenging.” So why does he prefer to adapt literary work? “I choose to go in a different zone and try out novels. It gives me more freedom to express and experiment. The production part is looked after completely by Prinal as I don’t want to get into all the jobs together.” As for dabbling between shoot and direction, Pankaj says, “Thankfully Fireworks Productions has been very co operative and helps me manage my work with ease. It is for them that I could give my time to both.” And finally, what can people expect from the play? He quips, “Full on masala stuff. It’s a complete entertaining project and although it’s an experiment, I am confident that people will enjoy it a lot.” We wish you great luck with the venture Pankaj!
