Few days ago we informed our readers about programming slot changes in Colors’ shows Ishq Ka Rang Safed and Balika Vadhu.

Now, we hear that post the changes the makers of Balika Vadhu (Sphereorigins) will introduce a new character, which will add more drama to the series.

Meri Ashiqui Tum Se Hi fame actor Smriti Khanna, we hear, has been roped in to play a prominent character in Balika Vadhu.

We hear from a source that in coming days Nandini (Mahhi Vij) will prepare for her marriage with Krish (Ruslaan Mumtaz) but will realize that she has a soft corner for Amit (Avinash Sachdev) instead. As soon as the new bride will reach the mandap, Krish will realize about Nandini’s true feelings and will convince Nandini and Amit to get married.

Those who are heaving a sigh of relief thinking about the possible happy ending, we have a piece of bad news for them.

“As soon as Amit and Nandini will take their wedding vows, a new character, Dr. Vandana (Smriti Khanna) will be introduced. Dr. Vandana will claim to be Amit’s first wife and will also state that she hasn’t yet divorced Amit hence Nandini and Amit’s marriage is indeed illegal. But, like a true friend, Krish will step into the place and will argue that according to the law Vandana has been separated with Amit for more than five years, which anyway makes their divorce final. But, Vandana will continue to work in the same hospital with Amit and Nandini and will try to win back Amit by creating trouble in his conjugal life”, adds our source.

Armed with the info, when we buzzed Smriti, the lady confirmed the development and mentioned, “I am happy to be a part of the series and looking forward to the project. I have already started shooting and my entry will be shown in sometime, next week.”
