Mohnish Behl doesn't like to step into somebody else's shoes

Mohnish Behl
The media went crazy reporting on Mohnish Behl quitting Rajan Shahi’s Kuch Toh Log Kahenge (Sony Entertainment Television). We were the first ones to report on the man’s exit and finally, after a lot of hue and cry, and many names being tossed around (Anuj Saxena, Anoop Soni, Sanjit Bedi, Cezannae Khan, Manav Gohil, and even Harsh Chhaya and Aman Verma), Sharad Kelkar’s name was announced as the replacement. Furthermore, news trickled to us that Mohnish decided to opt out as issues cropped up between him and the production house. But Sneha Rajani, Business Head, Sony Entertainment Television, confirmed exclusively to Tellychakkar.com that Mohnish’s exit was amicable and it resulted due to “health reasons”. And now, in a candid chat with us, Mohnish too went on record to state the precise reason of his exit. “There is no issue between me and Rajan. I have been suffering from a bad back ache but I am getting better with each passing day. After Kuch Toh…I am getting the much needed rest,” he said. So what does he think on his decision to quit Kuch Toh…? “It is my loss as KTLK is a good show. But I guess at the age of 50 and continuously working for 16/18 hours nonstop for days, it did take a toll on me. I had to take a call,” he went on to state. Then he continued, “It took me four hours to travel from my home to the set in Mudh Island (Mumbai). It became quite a major issue. And the media portrayed it as if the decision was taken overnight. But the truth is that the channel and the production house knew it almost two months before.” Fair enough, Mohnish. So how was your experience playing Dr Ashutosh? “I loved it. I have received a good response. I am thankful to everyone for the love and adulation. But I have always maintained that a lot depends on the entire creative team of a show as well. We actors only interpret a situation.” When asked to comment on his replacement, Sharad, he refrained from commenting anything directly but said, “Personally, I don’t like to step into somebody else’s shoes. I prefer to create a character from scratch.” Hmm…sometimes we need to read between the lines. Anyways, after Kuch Toh… he is ready to do any god work “that comes his way”. But before that he has do clear a little clutter. “I will have to deal with all the negative publicity which this hullabaloo over my exit from KTLK has created. Somebody must have benefited out of all this, but definitely not me. ” So what about the rumours of your wife, Ekta, being upset with you romancing Kritika Kamra (Dr Nidhi) in Kuch Toh…? “(Laughs) Had Ekta been insecure she would have objected even when I was doing romantic stuff in film or when I was essaying negative avatars,” he ended. Well, Mohnish hope you have a great run in the coming future and keep entertaining fans for years to come!!!
