Over the years, many celebrities joined politics. However, later they left the field to focus on their acting career. Read on to know about them.

MUMBAI: Time and again, we have seen many celebrities joining politics.

There is an unmissable connection between showbiz and politics. While several political party leaders take the help of the Indian celebs to promote their party, there are many who join politics to become social influencers. Many celebs have turned politicians at the end of their film career and there are many, who join politics when they see a downfall in their career or some, just because of their interest. No matter what the motive be, celebs have been managing their political stints quite successfully. But, the same doesn't go for all the celebs-politicians. There are a few who joined politics but later left it and focused on their acting career.

Let’s take a look at actors who joined politics and later left.
 
Amitabh Bachchan: Amitabh Bachchan is a renowned face of the Indian film industry. In early 1984, Big B took a break from acting to contest the Lok Sabha elections from Allahabad which he won. While many thought that the actor will now be a popular face of Indian politics, his stint was short-lived. Following several allegations including the Bofors scandal, the actor left politics and vowed to never enter the field again.

Sanjay Dutt: Sanjay Dutt entered politics to work for the well-being of the people of India. The actor joined Samajwadi Party. When he filed his nominations for the 2009 Lok Sabha elections, the court refused to suspend his conviction and the actor had to take back his name. After which, he was appointed as the General Secretary of the Samajwadi Party. In 2010, he left the position.

Rajesh Khanna: Rajesh Khanna was a renowned face of Indian politics for a short period of time and was a member of the Indian National Congress. However, his political career was also short-lived as he left his position in 1996.

Govinda: The actor was a member of the Parliament of India from 2004 to 2009. He also won the elections and was a part of the Indian National Congress. However, his political career was short-lived as he left politics in 2008 to focus on his acting career.
