MUMBAI: The NDPS court has rejected the bail plea of Sushant Singh Rajput's flatmate and friend Siddharth Pithani once again. On Wednesday, Pithani's lawyer Taraq Sayyed confirmed the development. The Zonal Director of the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), Sameer Wankhede revealed that the court dismissed the application because they didn't find any merit in the plea.

While his earlier bail application had also been rejected, he had been granted permission to be out of police custody for his wedding scheduled on June 25. Following this, Pithani had surrendered before the court on July 2, and since then has been in the custody of the NCB.

Pithani was traced by the NCB through his social media post and arrested from Hyderabad on May 28 for his alleged links in the Sushant Singh Rajput drug case. He was the first person to find the actor hanging in his bedroom on June 14 last year. Pithani was the one who had lowered SSR's body even before the family members of the actor arrived at his residence.

Sushant's friend Rhea, her brother Showik and other staff members including Samuel Miranda and Deepesh Sawant were also arrested by the NCB. The other housemates Keshav and Neeraj, who were recently questioned by the NCB, have hinted at Pithani's role in the drug case.

SSR passed away on June 14 last year and the subsequent investigation by the police and other agencies has been going on for more than a year now. There’s still a lot of speculation around the actor's sudden death, with Sushant’s family pursuing multiple cases in the court.
