Swapnil Joshi on Vaalvi, “For a film that has a thriller-comedy genre, I think the response is very overwhelming” – Exclusive

MUMBAI :Swapnil Joshi is one of the biggest names in the Marathi film industry. He has been a part of many famous movies like Mumbai-Pune-Mumbai franchise, Duniyadari, Fugay, Bhikari, and others. Last Friday, Swapnil Joshi starrer Vaalvi was released in theatres and it has been getting a good response. The movie also stars Anita Date, Subodh Bhave, and Shivani Surve in lead roles. With Subodh, Swapnil had also worked earlier in the film Fugay.

TellyChakkar recently interacted with Swapnil and spoke to him about the movie, Subodh Bhave, and more…

What response are you getting for Vaalvi?

The response to Vaalvi has been phenomenal, we have not even completed week one and I think the shows are increasing across Maharashtra and the collections are great. For a film that has a thriller-comedy genre, I think the response is very overwhelming.

Vaalvi is your first theatrical release after the pandemic. So, were you a bit nervous before the release?

Absolutely, for any actor, any release is like a nervous breakdown. For me, it was double nervousness because it was my first release after the pandemic. So I was nervous, but I think the response has taken care of all that.

We have usually heard that two actors of the same stature aren’t very keen to work with each other. But, in Vaalvi you are there with Subodh Bhave. So, before signing the film was there a kind of thought that I should have a better role?

Not at all! I don’t know about the other industries, but I don’t think it works like that in Marathi films. I think in the Marathi industry most of the actors are extremely secure about their positions. Also, I and Subodh are great friends off-screen, so that obviously helps our onscreen persona and chemistry. I think we both are very secure actors and he is a very fine actor, sharing the screen alongside him has only enhanced my performance.
